Every spring, our neighbor to the north hosts the annual Tulip Time Festival. This year’s festival is May 5 – 13, 2018, and the streets of Holland, Michigan will bustle with wooden shoe dancing, live music–and of course, millions of tulips. The only problem is, there aren’t millions of hotel rooms in Holland, especially during Tulip Time!
But never fear…Twin Oaks Inn is just 10 short miles south of Holland, and we’re always happy to help a neighbor in need. Our 1860 Victorian home has six luxurious rooms within walking distance of Saugatuck’s shops, art galleries, and restaurants and a five-minute drive to the big lake.
Book your Tulip Time stay with us, and you can start your day with a delicious, homemade breakfast in our dining room—or out on the sunny patio if the weather allows. Then head north to the festival, whisking yourself back in time for a glimpse of the old Netherlands.
During Tulip Time, you’ll find tulips everywhere—and all kinds of activities, too. Take a Tulip City guided tour to Windmill Island to see the tulip fields and watch craftsmen carving wooden shoes, wander through the stalls at an artisan market or quilt show, or simply stroll the charming downtown admiring tulips of every size and color. Traditional Dutch dancing takes place multiple days of the week, and there are also three parades scheduled throughout the event.
If you’re sticking around for one of the festival’s nightly performances of theater, music, or comedy, you can grab dinner at one of downtown Holland’s many restaurants. If not, slip away from the crowds and head back to Saugatuck, where you can relax over a delicious meal or pint of craft brew or cider within walking distance of your room, then drive to Oval Beach to catch a sunset over the lake.
Should your schedule allow, you can even linger in town, taking in our galleries, unique shopping areas and restaurants, and of course, the stunning beauty of the lakeshore and dunes. Tulip Time will be here before you know it, so make your reservations soon! We look forward to seeing you this May.
